Harvested the first bush beans and jalapenos

First harvest of Jalapenos with winter squash in the mix

A basket full of beautiful jalapenos – will keep them stored until I come back from California next Friday. Then I might have more and I can visit Tim and have him roast them for me.
I also harvested about 2 pounds of the Etna bush beans. They will also be stored for when I come back. Yesterday, at a 4th of July celebration with my Chilean girlfriends Ana Maria and Ella, the got me to promise that I will cook the beans and make ‘porotos granados’ for them. I must love them; I mean my friends.
Before we went to the party, Will and I harvested more of the pool ball squash. I had not inspected the garden for a few days and some of them were the size of bowling balls. The basket became to small and I ended up throwing them over the deer fence for Will to catch them; a feat he executed flawlessly, despite me really messing the throw of the biggest one. It was like a great moment of the Patriots. We took them to the party and they were gone along with a fair amount of fresh basil that I had harvested as well. You know… you can’t let them flower so they need to be constantly trimmed until pesto day.
A few days back, I turned my heart into stone and pulled out all the strawberries.
I also ended up putting a stool under the winter squash that is hanging from the deer netting. I’ll solve the problem more elegantly when I come back.
